Rebekah Heacock Jones is a Senior Project Manager at the Berkman Klein Center. She currently leads Internet Monitor and has managed or contributed to the Digital Public Library of America planning initiative, the OpenNet Initiative, and a number of other projects related to online content regulation, access to information, and Internet governance. She first joined the Center as a research assistant in 2007 and spent two summers interning with the Center's freedom of expression team before joining the staff full-time in 2010.
Rebekah previously co-directed the Technology for Transparency Network, which documents and maps projects that use online technology to promote transparency and accountability in the public and private sectors. The network is part of the Global Voices Online community, where from 2007-2012 she helped cover the Ugandan blogosphere.
Rebekah has lived and worked in Uganda, where she co-developed and directed a series of conferences on post-conflict development for American and East African college students, and in Kansas, where she was a web producer for the Lawrence Journal-World. She has a Master's degree in International Affairs from the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Kansas.
