Michael G Bennett is the Director of Educational Programs and Director of the Policy and Regulation group at the Institute for Experiential Artificial Intelligence at Northeastern University in Boston. His work at EAI focuses on the creation of courses, trainings and consultations for individuals studying artificial intelligence, corporations deploying AI in highly regulated industries, and governments aiming to effectively regulate AI. He is a board member and executive committee member of the non-profit art, technology and science organization, Leonardo/ISAST. He was also the president of Society for the Study of New and Emerging Technologies, 2016-2021, A National Science Foundation-funded non-profit that committed to exploring the societal implications of innovation. From 2019-2021, Bennett was Commissioner of Arts and Culture for Tempe, Arizona. His legal practice and research primarily concerns innovation--its cultivation, commercialization and societal implications--in the arts and technoscientific fields. Bennett holds legal licenses in Illinois and Michigan. He regularly advises innovators in artistic and technoscientific domains, and politically-active celebrities. Michael received his B.S. in Applied Physics and minor in mathematics from Florida A&M University in 1995, his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1998, and his PhD in Science and Technology Studies/Philosophy of Technology from Rensselaer in 2006.
