Karina Alexanyan’s research interests lie at the intersection of media, information technology and social science. Her academic background is in global social media networks and society, with a focus on Russia. Karina was a researcher with the Berkman Klein Center’s Internet and Democracy Project, working on the impact of the Internet on Russian Politics, Media and Society. At mediaX at Stanford University, Karina helps bring industry and academia together to explore edge topics at the intersection of human sciences and technology. Her current focus is on Trust, Transparency and Technology. Dr. Alexanyan is also an Instructor for Stanford Continuing Studies, where she recently developed an online course on Media, Technology and Society, highlighting social and cultural changes through digital media and emerging technologies. Dr. Alexanyan received her PhD in Communications from Columbia University, an M.A. in Communication from NYU and a B.A. in Linguistics and Modern Languages (French and Russian) from the Claremont Colleges.
