Data Driven Discrimination
What Is it, and Where Do We Go from Here?
Join Wasserstein Fellow Brittny-Jade Saunders ’08, Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Initiatives at the New York City Commission on Human Rights, for a discussion of “data-driven discrimination,” or discrimination resulting from the convergence of “big data” and predictive analytic techniques as they become increasingly central to decision-making in our day-to-day lives. Brittny will discuss the Commission’s work in this area; New York City’s Automated Decision Systems Task Force; and challenges and opportunities related to the application of existing frameworks to rapidly-changing technologies, particularly at the local government level. Co-sponsored with the Urbanists, BLSA, Berkman Klein Center, SALSA, and Alianza.
