Algorithmic Discrimination & Fairness: Reducing the Gap Between the Legal & Technical?
There is a vast body of legal and technical literature focused on what fairness means in the context of algorithms and how fairness can be measured. This panel explored the issues in dispute and focused on the challenges yet to be solved, offering a unique opportunity to overcome challenges for interdisciplinary researchers and provide attendees with the tools and knowledge necessary to communicate across disciplines effectively, especially (aspiring) lawyers, policymakers, and technologists who seek to better engage with questions of fair algorithms.
